There are many denture adhesives on the market designed to ‘grip’ your dentures, or partial dentures to the tissue of your mouth. For legal reasons we cannot use brand names but please read on.
These are in certain circumstances a very very useful product, particularly if you wish to have that bit of extra confidence for that special dinner or occasion BUT they are NOT a permanent or long term solution to a dental problem.
If your dentures are getting looser you need to seek professional guidance. One is aware of the cost of dental treatment nowadays, but it is also true that you tend to get what you pay for.
So why do dentures get loose in the first place?
If you have had immediate dentures provided that means extraction and fit, your dentures will get loose in certain circumstances very quickly and therefore should be seen as temporary.

As your mouth is a totally changing environment, dentures need to be replaced every three to four years.

If you lose weight, as a denture wearer, your oral tissues, in certain circumstances, can shrink, leading to loose fitting.
Those are the three most common reasons why your dentures will become ill-fitting.
What can I do about it?
The best solution is to get your dentures relined, this allows the new plastic of your denture to fit more snugly to your mouth’s current soft tissues.
What does it involve?
This is a simple procedure taking just a few days. An impression material is placed in your current denture which compensates for the shrinkage of your soft tissues, allowing an improved fit of the denture bearing area. This is then processed and the new acrylic base is fitted.
This can be a cheaper option than having new dentures provided, or even a couple of years supply of denture adhesive!
