3 words that refer to my skill base and words that I hope every denture wearer understands.
All dentures are still handmade and every one is personal to that wearer. In this article I'm trying to catch your attention. Why you say? This is my job, I make, fit and provide dentures many types - partial, full – full, partial dentures, some metal type, some just plastic. Let's go off at a tangent, by dental law I cannot use the word Specialist, Specialist is the title that is given to the consultant status, but I can use the word specialising, in making dentures, this is something I have been doing for over 50 years!

The changes in my career have been many, when I started my career, implantation technology, did not exist, now 50 years later, implantation technology is commonplace. Most people have a vague idea what is meant by this. These techniques for some patients are brilliant, I have to admit this is the top end of prosthetic dentistry. Implants are in some cases what the patient needs. They come at a price, they are not cheap, it is not a quick fix solution to your dental problems, this is surgical intervention under anaesthetic.

I shall say no more, because I would scare the reader, before you embark on this road remember they are not a third set of natural teeth, they are still a man-made prosthesis, surgically fitted. Single teeth and small multiples work well. The larger the prosthesis, the greater the problems and risk and potential failure, this is not always the case but everything has a lifespan, we do not know how long the average prosthesis (as it gets larger) will last, if we are honest. I have probably got the hackles up on some of my dental colleagues who provide this treatment when they read this article, but there are a range of ,alternatives still available. My speciality is the removable denture, the system called dentures, remember reader, every patient is similar but very different, the assessment and planning of treatment is the most important part we undertake, what is the best for you, the individual. In order of importance -impression, vertical dimension appearance and masticatory efficiency are the four base line criteria we endeavour to provide for each patient, to me every patient is important and special.
